Ottawa

After a hearty breakfast with Patti and Tom in their lovely back yard, Zoe and I took off to go explore Ottawa. Parliament and the market were within walking distance, so we left the bikes behind and I finally got a chance to stretch my legs. We set off towards te market and I got to check out the canal that runs through the city; not only are there amphibious tour-buses, but when it freezes over in the winter people apparently skate to work downtown. Too cool. First run through the market was a little overwhelming. People everywhere!

After a tasty beavertail, we headed off to go see Parliament. After ambling through people's pictures out frog for a while, we went to go get tickets to ado a tour. Surprisingly touring canadian parliament is a hot thing to do, and the only tours left were later in the day. This may have been a blessing in disguise, since our backup was the museum of civilization, which was very cool indeed. After the prerequisite tour of Canadian history, we headed to the Mayan exhibit that was jam packed with amazing statues. There was also a crazy light-covered bus from the middle east- so entrancing.

After Zoe headed off to catch a bus back to Montreal and eagerly await my arrival, I went back to Tom and Pattis for a lovely dinner with two friends of their who had just returned from Nepal, and then one more good nights sleep in a real bed before heading on to Montreal.
