The rain finally died down after a full day of non-stop torrential downpour, so we packed up and headed back out. It has been crazy dry out here, so all the locals were very happy to finally have had a rainy day.
Today we passed through White River- home of the real life Winnie the bear, who later went on to inspire the books. But believe it or not this was not the most exciting thing White River had to offer! White River was also the first town that I found wifi in (still no reception), and man did I ever did it just in time. As my phone connects, emails come flooding in, and my phone starts flashing an emergency message to contact home ASAP. Assuming the worst, I find a pay phone immediately to make sure everyone is alright. Turns out I was the emergency, with five days of no contact being a few days too many. After calling home to a relieved mother, I assume that that is the end of that and go to grab groceries.
As we leave the grocery store, Sebastien gets waved over by a police officer. The officer asks for his name, then asks if he has run in to any cyclists named James. Sebastien laughs and waves me forward, where I find out that I am the James he is lokig for. After presenting my ID and having a laugh/discussion about upcoming camping spots with the officer, my first first missing persons report comes to an anticlimactic close. On we go!
Ultimately we ended up in Wawa and stay with a pastor who Raymond had been set up. Since he's riding for charity people have opening their doors for him as he goes, and we're seemingly happy to extend their hospitality to his traveling companions. There had been a renewal of vows party recently, so there were leftovers galore. We feasted on ribs, then slept in beds.
It was wonderful.
